How to choose a fly ash brick and block machine manufacturer in India

Machines

Most people setting up a fly ash brick or concrete block plant in India start by comparing machine prices. The price matters, but over ten years the things that decide whether the plant makes money are output per shift, how often the machine stops, how quickly spares and service reach you, and whether the line can grow when demand grows. This is the checklist we suggest to anyone comparing manufacturers, including us.

1. Decide what you want to make first

Fly ash bricks, solid and hollow blocks, paver blocks, kerbstones and tiles need different machines. A hydraulic press such as the Q Green QGH range suits fly ash bricks. A vibro compaction machine such as the Q Green Vibro Series (RT 2 to RT 15) suits blocks, pavers and kerbstones, and can also make bricks. Terrazzo tiles, chequered tiles and slabs need a wet press. Ask every manufacturer which products the machine is actually built for, and for photos of those products from running plants.

2. Check output per shift against the real cycle time

Output claims vary a lot between brochures. Ask for the cycle time in seconds, the pallet size and the number of pieces per stroke or per pallet, then work the hourly figure out yourself. For example, every Q Green Vibro Series machine runs a 15 to 28 second cycle, with pallets from 550 x 550 mm on the RT 2 to 1400 x 1150 mm on the RT 15. The QGH fly ash brick presses range from 10,000 to 12,000 bricks per shift on the QGH Smart to 23,000 to 24,000 on the QGH 25A Twin.

3. Ask how automated the machine really is

Semi automatic and fully automatic mean different things at different companies. Ask which steps are automatic: batching, mixing, pallet feeding, stacking, rack loading, curing, cubing. Ask whether the control is PLC based, and whether the line can be automated later in stages if you start small.

4. Visit a running plant

The most useful thing you can do before buying is stand next to the machine you are considering while it is working, at a customer site, and talk to the owner. Ask the manufacturer for two or three installations near you. Q Green machines are running in states including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

5. Visit the factory

A manufacturer with its own factory, its own design team and its own spares stock will support a machine for its whole life. Ask where the machine is built and whether you can visit. Q Green builds its machines at its own facility at Padhariya, Mehsana, Gujarat, and has run an ISO 9001 certified quality system since 2019.

6. Understand after sales support before you pay

Ask in writing: how long installation and commissioning take, whether operator training is included, how quickly a service engineer reaches your district, and which spares are kept in stock. A machine that stops for a week waiting for a part loses more money than any discount saves.

7. Think about the whole plant, not just the machine

The machine is one part of the plant. You also need a mixer, material handling, a curing area, power and space. Ask the manufacturer for a layout drawn around your land and your target output, and for the area and power each option needs.

Questions to ask every manufacturer

  • Which products is this machine built for, and can I see them from a running plant?

  • What is the cycle time, pallet size and pieces per cycle?

  • Which steps are automatic, and can I add automation later?

  • Where is the machine built, and can I visit the factory?

  • Which installations near me can I visit?

  • What does installation, training and the first year of service include?
